My Story

I am Kris Emerson, the baker behind Butterflies and Bumblebees. I am a wife of 34 years to my husband Paul. A mom of 4 incredible adult children; Brady, Brandon, Brooklyn and Bryce. Mama B to six grandchildren; Alden, Tavin, Audrey, Liam, Landon and Everly.  I am passionate about baking, gardening and hospitality.

I started my baking journey as a child by my grandma’s side. Every Saturday was baking day. I am not sure how much help I was, but I loved to lick the spoon. Baking beside my grandmother is a memory I cherish. I still have her mixer all these years later. It was retired a while ago, but having it displayed in my baking area reminds me that she is always with me reminding me to follow the recipe.

My love of baking turned into a way to show appreciation and love to my friends and family throughout the years. It started with Christmas goodie boxes and bake sales. In 2020, while home during the pandemic, I chose to teach myself how to make decorated sugar cookies. Turns out I was good at it. Hours of watching videos and practicing soon had people asking if I sold them.

In 2023 I applied to become a Cottage Kitchen Bakery and turned my love of baking into a small at home business. Decorating cookies, creating recipes, and expanding my baking knowledge has become my new normal. I have started offering cookie decorating classes and teaching others how to decorate amazing cookies.

I am committed to small batch baking, quality ingredients and beautiful products. Every item needs to taste as good as it looks.

Baking is synonymous with love. That is the secret ingredient in everything I make.
